Stylish Bostonians: Autumn Ahn
Name: Autumn Ahn
Age: 24
From: Philadelphia, PA
Lives in: Inman Square, Cambridge
Occupation: Artist (autumnahn.com), Personal assistant to a curator, festival coordinator for Boston Cyberarts Festival (bostoncyberarts.org)
Inspirations: “Hand-me-downs. I pull things together at the last minute when I’m under pressure to get the hell out of the house. I keep changing until the last second before I leave. Also, I like big statement and ethnic jewelry, tribal pieces.”
Favorite stores: Stel’s, H&M, Zara, my friends’ closets
Her signature accessories: Copper rings from the fifty cent bins at Aldo
Her favorite designers: Marni, Rodarte, Alexander McQueen, Jean Paul Gaultier, Rachel Comey, Gary Graham, A.P.C
“A lot of these designs are couture, and feel very sculptural because of that. None of it is ready-to-wear, but I like the idea that you can take those pieces and wear them every day if you feel like it.”
How she describes Boston style: “Layered. It’s mostly function over form. When it’s at it’s best, it’s a very practical and well-made aesthetic.”
How her style has evolved through the years: “It’s accumulated. My hair usually determines my style more than my clothes do; it determines proportions.”
